Color print of Domingos Rebelo's painting, "Emigrants". Painting depicts a woman and man seated on a trunk. The man holds an umbrella and a framed shrine is resting on the trunk with a stringed instrument nearby. Leaning against the trunk is a registo, a devotional item (more information at https://senhorsantocristo.com/new/registos/). We have two in our collection, 2007.2206 and 2007.2207. Besides them is a woman hugging a man goodbye with several onlookers and a small child in a straw hat. Scene is set on a stone pier with water and a boat to the side. Handwritten information on back of frame provides details on specific elements of the painting. Print is framed in a brown wood frame. |
