Terra cotta flowerpot. Lip on top rim and band around top quarter of body. Deep sides and tapers from top to bottom. Hole in bottom. Because the cookhouse was warm from the caldron fire, farmers sometimes started plants in flowerpots in the Spring, which would be moved outdoors when the weather became warmer. |
