Large powder horn with light brown to dark brown colors. Intricately decorated tip with ribbing and rope designs. Large opening at opposite end is covered with a wood piece and has scalloped edging. Inscription on horn reads: "David Heywood/His Horn Made/At WestPoint/Feb. 24 1779" Large horn suggests military use. Also has larger, thinner spout than others owned by LCHS. |
