Description |
Large wooden flax brake. Consists of seven slats that run the length of a large rectangular plank of wood supported by four peg legs. At end of slats is a tall, round wooden pillar through which is a wooden rod. Small adjustable wooden frame around end of plank. Flax was laid on lower slats, upper frame and upper slats were placed on it. Frame was hinged at one end and weighted at the other end. The blow from the fall would crush the flax. |
